Friends Only

(currently on an indefinite HIATUS, though I do drop in now & then)

My graphics (icons, banners etc.) can be found at corset_diaries =]

I have a few ground rules and I'll know if you didn't read them, that automatically means I won't add you.

1. Not to be mean or anything but it's simple, follow the instructions so I'll know you're actually serious about being my friend and not just wanting to increase the size of your friends list.

2. COMMENT and say hi (the amount of people who don't is just baffling!); please don't just add me randomly. I often ban people who do.

3. If you're a fan of de-friending, or cleaning out you friends list, be warned before we even become friends, if you do it to me I need a very good reason why.

4. Without meaning offense, if I can't read your journal at all (as in, none of it is in a language I can understand) I'm sorry, I won't add you because it's a little creepy.

5. Tell me where you found me and why we'd make good eljay buddies, I don't need an essay, a few words will do :)

pooh pooh Valentines day

It's waayyy too commercialized (but that's not really an argument is it, the real question is what isn't these days?!)

I mean if you love someone it should be expressed EVERY DAY. I get mother's day or father's day because sometimes our parents need at least one day to themselves. But Valentines day? like that old guy in the sh*t my dad says twitter account, I don't think St Valentine would want us to screw in his memory (this one t-shirt that said "don't forget to f**k on Valentine's" was hilarious though LOL).

But maybe this is just me being bitter as I've never had a significant other (Drew Barrymore in never been kissed can suck it compared to me) XD However I will say that roses are over rated, well, flowers in general as presents really because what message does it convey?

"Here babe, like this flower our love is in full bloom today but if you don't put it into a vase of water and take care of it it will die in 3 days or so. Maybe before then. Yes, yes you are high maintenance"

EDIT: HAHA I clicked on my tag and I said pretty much the same thing 2 yrs ago but much nicer and there was a pretty picture >_> aahh the days when I had time to photoshop

But speaking of the valentine's love bug, I've always upheld that fictional men do it better and my friend Larissa is having an awesome international giveaway on her fabulous blog:

Welcome to Larissa's Life

She asks the question, what is love for you?

Well having never experienced romantic love I can only guess at it and I think this quote (one of my all time favorites) sums up my 'impression' of how it is;

"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is [...] it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away."

Thank you for your eloquence Louis de Bernières now go forth and enter!!! I'm so there :)

the places we go

"Sometimes [she] wondered if she felt more than other people did. There were time she simply wanted to cry for hours, the pain in her heart felt so great. Or sometimes, she wanted to weep because she was so happy. Did feeling so strongly mark her as a weak woman? Should she guard her emotions with more care?" -My Beloved; Karen Ranney

Read this in a book this morning, it just completely resonated with the typed of person I am-don't you just love it when that happens?

Shiloh Walker's 'Broken'

I can't wait to read this one, I've devoured her two other romantic suspense novels (The Missing and Fragile-which this one is a sort of sequel to with the heroes being twins) and now trying to get my hands on a backlist lol

Quinn Rafferty is working as a bounty hunter and bail bondsman in St. Louis when a new neighbor catches his eye. He’s tempted by her beauty—but he knows from experience that anyone desperate enough to live in his building is damaged goods. Besides, he has his own soul to mend before he can worry about anyone else.

Sara Davis is on the run, but not for the usual reasons a woman goes on the lam. She’s not an abused wife, and she’s not a criminal. But she does have a plan for her future. And as much as she finds herself attracted to her gruff, tough neighbor, she can’t risk telling him the secrets she’s hiding. There’s just too much at stake.

Driven to desire…

But Quinn must get closer to Sara when she turns out to be the target of his new missing persons case, and he discovers that there is something more complex and dangerous to her than he thought. Now, both Quinn and Sara will have to expose their true feelings—as well as their fragile hearts—if they hope their love will survive…

He opened the door—

And stopped dead in his tracks as somebody all but fell into his arms. Somebody…a woman. And not Theresa.

He caught her just above her elbows, automatically steadying her.

“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice soft and low.

Then she lifted her face and Quinn found himself gazing into the biggest, brownest eyes he’d ever seen in his life. Feeling a little dazed, he studied her face while she stammered out another apology.

Quinn barely heard it.

He was too busy staring at her mouth. A very pretty mouth, a cupid’s bow mouth slicked with deep, vibrant red. Under his hands, he could feel silken smooth skin and unable to resist, he stroked a thumb along her inner arm.

Her skin was soft, soft and warm. He was also pretty sure she had the creamiest, most flawless skin imaginable. Her shoulder-length hair was a shade caught between blonde and brown, nondescript, but for some reason, he found himself thinking about tangling his fingers in that hair and holding her head still while he kissed that red-slicked mouth.

Well, hello…

Pieces of Me

Here's to my bitches lol the elite on my f-list. If you want to be on here, just let me know "I am the ____ to your _____" after of course, a reasonable amount of time of knowing one another.

"I've heard it said, that people come into our lives for a reason. Bringing something we must learn and we are lead to those, who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return.

Now I don't know if I believe that's true, but I know I'm who I am today because I knew you.

So much of me is made of what I learned from you and you'll be with me, like a hand print on my heart. And now whatever way our stories end, know you have re-written mine, by being my friend."

4. The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt (an erotic Jane Eyre )

5. Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (adorable animals plus hot romance)

6. Son of the Morning by Linda Howard (compulsively readable and sexy)

7. Start Me Up by Victoria Dahl (friends to more than friends story of a short girl and a hot nerd, what's not to like?)

8. The Devil You Know by Liz Carlyle (Bentley is one of the best tortured rakes ever)

9. Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas ( I had to choose ONE of her works though I love them all!)

10. Mind Game by Christine Feehan (rare Asian hero and heroine in a well written and steamy romance)

11. Thunder and Roses by Mary Jo Putney (just plain wonderful)
